Translation Statement

The Biblical translation used  and cited throughout this website is the Douay Rheims Bible. This translation was chosen due to its direct accuracy to the Clementia Vulgata, the official Bible of the Latin Church, and for its place as the solely approved English Bible for Catholics for nearly 350 years. This is a reputable and time-tested traditional English translation of the Holy Bible.

All prayers presented throughout this website have been taken from the Roman Missal, Roman Breviary, approved catholic prayer books and catechisms, or translated by hand if not otherwise denoted. The prayers translated by hand are the work of this website's creators and do not bear an Imprimatur or Nihil Obstat. These prayers, when translated from English to Latin or vice versa, have been converted as faithfully as possible to retain the most literal translation of the words. The translators did not work with any bias, desire for alteration, or remotely attempt to reflect what the "spirit of the original" may have been according to their views. 

Prayers, when at all possible, are offered in both Latin and English. This was done for ease of prayer, thus providing the vernacular, and unity with the universal church, thus providing Latin. Latin is holy and the official language of the Catholic Church. If anyone using this website so desires to pray in the Church's Mother Tongue, know that it is a beautiful practice and he is most strongly encouraged to do so. 

It is an immensely beautiful gift to be able to pray in the language of the saints and this website is honored to help even one person to do so.
