Marriage requires perpetual sacrifice on the part of both spouses. Whether it be through their time, their bodies, or their independance in life, a husband or wife must be prepared to put the will of their spouse over his or her own's for the sake of their family.

A catholic husband traditionally is encouraged to give his all for his wife and children. He should spend his life, devout it, to the improvement and sanctification of theirs in all ways. A good father will love them, as Christ did, to the point of death.

In the tradition of Catholic family life, the wife loves her husband and children to the full extent of her person. She trusts her husband to lead and guide to family where just as Christ is head of the church so too is her husband head of the family. The mother is the beating heart of the family, leading them by her love and life towards the goal of all things: heaven.
